Description
Artificially formed in 1789 and located on the James River, Brown's Island served as the Confederate States Laboratory during the Civil War, producing ammunition and other supplies for the Confederate army.
Although we categorize this venue as an "outdoor amphitheater," Brown's Island is just a stage with a large grassy area for attendees and vendors. It is the site of the (formerly) free, weekly summer concert series, Friday Cheers, as well as several other citywide events throughout the year.
