Legends began as a Winn-Dixie grocery store in 1965, according to App State's Special Collections Research Center. It was purchased by Appalachian State and converted into a nightclub for Appalachian students, named H'Appy's, in 1984. It was remodeled in 1988 and renamed Legends. In 2024, Hurricane Helen opened a sinkhole underneath the building and as a result, the building was condemned in February the following year and scheduled to be demolished.
