Subject: Honest Race Questions about DMB

I'll be honest here, when I first envisioned the band, I basically saw an
all-white band. This assumption was based simply on the fact that most
"horde" bands are predominantly, if not totally, white. Sure, there are
exceptions, but I would guess that at least 80% of bands in the genre in
question are white. Crowds at shows seem to be even less diverse, I'd say
between 80-95% white, depending on the show.

Now, when I somehow found out Carter had been the drummer on some show on
Black Entertainment Television (BET), I thought, "Oh, cool."

But then I started to think... well, does EVERYTHING on BET have to be black?
MTV isn't only music... they have stupid shows about the "real world" and
"sex in the 90's"... so, what's up?

So, then I read the interviews file, and it said something about a
native-american member. So, in all of my bleeding-heart liberal-ness, I will
ask simply if someone could clarify what the races are of the band members.

If you find this inappropriate, please email me, don't flame publically. I
can't really think of why it could bother anyone that much. I just find that
visualizing a band always helps me to enjoy a tape more, especially one I
have yet to see, and it will also help so I wouldn't go "Hey! That's not who
I thought the drummer/bassist/etc. would be!" when I eventually do get to see
'em live.

I apologize for posting something relatively un-germaine, but
this is truly an emergency. Those of you on phishnet have seen
this post, sorry for the repeat. I have an extra ticket to
tomorrow's (Monday 4/18) Phish show that I am offering in
exchange for the ride to the University of Delaware arena (where
the show is). I'm posting here because I know that a large
number of recipients live in Virginia. Hope you can help me out.

     Hey,
Can someone fill me in on the relevance of gay bees to this list?
Am I the only one confused and dissapointed in reading this stuff. Anyone
interested in my thoughts on giraffes with one nostril?

Subject: halloween

hey.....
i wasn't sure who to write to with tab of sons so i decided to post it.
i apologize to anyone who doesn't want to read it but......
ok
i believe the chords for halloween go something like this

A G F Em G repeat

its easy to play along with for the most part. I do not know the main riff type
thing that dave plays but these chords fit and sound right.
the key to getting it is that the Em to G is pretty quick.

what is all this gay bee bullshit again. maybe something is wrong up at
JMU i don't know. But when i listen to DMB, see a show, or trade with
others, gay bees never enter my mind. I have a database list of
something like over 5000 random networks out there. Haven't looked
closely, but if you'd like to, you could probably find your desire to

Subject: MYSTERY TAPE-HELP

I was wondering if any of you all could help me out with this tape. I have
no idea where or when it is from. The setlist is as follows:

            Side A Side B
        Granny Recently
        What Would u Say Warehouse
Help Myself Best of What's Around
        Lie in our Graves Satellite
So Much to Say One Sweet World
        Seek Up Two Step
        Halloween True (cut)
        Recently

Some of the things they says are on the tape are:

-It's easy in Virginia. If you want a crows to scream, I can just say It's
Boyd Tinsley!! (Dave)
-Boyd "Thanks to the Authority from NYC for opening for us. If you are
anywhere near Trax nightclub in Charlottesville, they will be playing with
Burning Core."
-Before One Sweet World Dave comments that he is dazed from the seafood he ate.

Subject: Looking for three tapes

I'm looking for three DMB tapes. Two of which are the two DMB shows
that I have been to: 11-12-93 @ The Paradise, Boston and 4-15-94 @ The
Orpheum in Boston as well. On 11-12-93 there were tapers there taping
ARU, but I'm not sure if anyone got DMB. If the tape exists please, someone
let me know. I'm not sure if tapers were allowed at the Orpheum, because
it was a Samples show... again if the tape exists let me know. I'm
also looking for a show with a good version of "Quick Lay and Goodbye"
on it. I have over 95 hours of PHiSH and over 40 hours of DMB, Blues
Traveler, WSP, ARU, the Dead, Spin Doctors, Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam,
and Billy Joel.

Once again I'm looking for the following DMB tapes:
11-12-93 @ The Paradise
4-15-94 @ The Orpheum
A show with a good version of "Quick Lay and Goodbye"

Subject: Commercial radio play?

What the hell? Recently just came on the air on WXLE 104.5 in the
Albany NY area. It wasn't requested or anything. They didn't even
have ARU a month ago and now they have this? Weird stuff. This
station seems to be getting better.

On another note, we have the disc at our school station, and I don't
know, I really don't care for this tune as much as the others on the
disc. Gotta get them to play something else I guess. :)

hey everybody!
a few notes on the show last night.

dave only got to play for about an hour but it was a worth while set.
i don't remember the exact order but the set included

two step
ants
warehouse
tripping billies
satellite
all along the watchtower (w/ chin kinchla)
best of what's around

I think there was another but i can't remmeber right now......
oh wait
rhyme and reason ok..

The Ritz was pretty big a security guard said about 1900 was capacity..
it was an ok crowd they seemed to be familiar with R2T....
most of the crowd sang along with ants and satellite
the set up for the band was weird...
the stage was crowded 'cause of all BT stuff so carter was placed in the middle
of BOyd and Stefan and Leroi and Dave....
the sound was weird too cause where i was the speakers sort of "missed" me if
you know what i mean..... I got use to it....
Dave seemed really excited when Chin Kinchla played on watchtower...
Boyd got invited to play on Manhatten Bridge and 100 years by BT...
Leroi played on some new song by BT...
overall good show

sorry about the mistakes in typing but no sleep is tough to work with

see ya

just awoke after last night's show. god, what a drive.
but worth it. . .i think.

dave's set was fairly awesome. it seemed like the set that never was at
w&m. he opened up with the same two step -> ants marching.
and he played BEST!! wow. it seemed like the crowd was trying to call for an
encore, but they turned on the regular lights and the in-between-music right
after the band walked off stage. bummer.
the crowd seemed pretty much a r2t group (although thankfully dave gave us
more than that :)

blues traveler gave a fairly good show. the sound guys totally fooked up
through the first 4 or so songs, but it gradually gathered auditorily
permissible momentum. they played a really cool easy rider and some songs i
hadn't heard. but the highlight was boyd on manhattan -> 100 years
and leroi on some cooljazzytypething.

but gee, i wish i could hear. *ringringringringring*
were there any tapers there? the security guard we were chatting with
(who really dug dave by the way :) said that they were allowing tapers...
i've got a few trades. . .

keep dancing those bees ;)

Subject: Setlist from Kansas 3/7/94????

I just got my tape today from that show at Benchwarmer's in Kansas on
3/7/94. I was wondering if anyone has a copy of the setlist from it.
I misplaced the copy that I have.

Also, I am willing to trade a copy of this tape for other shows from other
places. This is my first tape. Since I'm from Missouri I don't get to see
Dave too often (and definitely not often enough!!!). Anyway, I would
greatly appreciate any trade opportunities and/or setlist from the show.

One more thing, does anyone know when he will release his first RCA record-
ing?

Thanks in advance,

Subject: Lexington show

Here's my best attempt at a setlist for a REALLY smokin' show.

Dave Matthews Band opened:
	Seek Up
	Tripping Billies
	Rhyme & Reason
	Best Of What's Around
	Two Step
	Ants Marching

And now, Phish -
Set 1:
	Runaway Jim
	It's Ice
	Julius
	Bouncing Around the Room
	Rift
	Axilla pt. II
	Stash
	Suzy Greenberg
Set 2:
	Poor Heart
	Run Like An Antelope
	Sample In A Jar
	Big Ball Jam
	Harry Hood
	Fee
You Enjoy Myself (Dave Matthews and Mike on trampoline)
Over The Rainbow Jam (w/entire DMB and vacuum solo)
E:	Highway to Hell

I may have missed something around Antelope, I'm not sure. That was
a fantastic show, if you couldn't make it, seek out the tapes (and no,
I don't have them ;-) ).
