Subject: Interesting AOL-type Dave stuff

Well, right before I went to France I noticed someone started a DMB folder in
one of our music sections. Yeah! I just checked it since getting back, and
it's doing great. Something startling posted:

a guy said that:

-his friend got an unmastered copy of the new CD, and this is what he had to
say:

o--> 12 songs, 1 instrumental (??)
o--> Re-recorded versions of Ants & Satellite
o--> Dancing Nancies, a 7:20 min. Warehouse, whatwouldyousay, typical, jimi

most of this was known, but just passing it on... :)

Subject: GSAC HORDE 7/16

Hey Everyone,

Good show, HORDE finally got east. GSAC were being tight-asses, no taping
at all. DMB opened, played five songs to a basically empty auditorium
crowd (although there were many people on the lawn)
At one point after a song Dave said: "Thank you, and you, and you (pointing)"
It was pretty funny

Setlist:

Two Step
Best of What's Around
Tripping Billies
Satellie (I think they played it)
Rhyme and Reason
Ants Marching

Nothing too special.

Big Head Todd was up next and I'm really starting to get bothered by this
band, oh well, my loss.

Blues Traveler was up next and all of a sudden the place was packed. Good
set, great energy

Setlist:

8/16/94 HORDE Garden State Arts Center, Holmdel NJ

But Anyway, Ivory Tusk, Save His Soul, Hook, Fallable, Optimistic Thought,
Low Rider*-->Go Outside and Drive*, Alone, Support Your Local Emporer,
Crash Burn-->What's For Breakfast

* w/ Mark Quinones from the Allmans on percussion

Quinones took a bongo solo in GOAD, it was cool.

I talked to some BT people:

The first single off of "Four" will be Hook.
Trust & Trust, Best be on My Way, Shotgun Shell, Escaping and (I think)
Brother John were all nixed from the new album.

Allmans were up next and basically rocked, no setlists but they played for
over two hours and never let up. John sat in with them on a song and
ripped up a solo.

Overall: very good show, at a quickly becoming Jones Beach-like (in
dislike) venue.

This is my first request after being on the net for about six months.
Being from Baltimore I was really psyked when DMB came here. I would
really like to get a copy of the 7-27-94 show at Hammerjacks. I have a
lot of good stuff to trade (DMB, Allman Bros., WSP...). E-mail me at
cowens@wlu.edu Thanks!

Subject: mwsgb!!!!!!! and his request...

as a bona fide member of wxjm harrisonburg i was treated to the early
release of rusted roots major label debut "when i woke." it's absolutely
amazing!!! i heartily recommend it to anyone who even remotely likes
dmb, even if you do hate gay bees. they're like a combo b/w talking heads
(or more likely david byrnes himself) peter gabriel and just a dash
of dave matthews band (the band as a whole, that is.) no two songs
on the cd sound alike, making sure that you never get bored with it.
from mariachi (well, maybe not) to afrikan tribal, to ethnic india,
it has everything (with flute on about half the tracks.) there's
been three bands who absolutely blew me away the very first time i
heard them (and no, clare, the cure was not one of them), and they
would be: dave matthews band, phish, and rusted root. most other
bands high i hold in immensely(sp?) high esteem these days (widespread,
the cure, pwei, the band formerly known as "boy o boy") had to grow on
me, but not rusted root.

also, to the lurker who coined the term "antsy" in reference to dave
withdrawal, i like that. i don't know if that counts for anything, but
i do like it. i think we should make that a more common term around
here.

I've been listening to their first album, Cruel Sun, for several months
or so now, and have loved it. Stacy Golds of PA put some of it as filler
on a Popper acoustic tape and I loved it so much I called up a store in
PA and ordered two of the CDs.

Yesterday, I saw them live at the Richmond, VA Horde show and they were
incredible. Played fopr only 30-40 mnins (second stage between BT and
Allmans), but they blew the people away who were watching tyhem.

Afterwards, I went up and talked with them for about 20 mins or so, told
'em how I found out about them and other typical 'You're Gods' talk, and
found out they'll be at Randolph Macon College the first week of Oct..
Either the 2nd, 4th, or 5th, but probably the 2nd (he didn't know for sure).

So, my only question is, where's RMC? :)

Take care,
Brett

actually, take a look at my sig.. I just threw together a lot of
initials that meant something to me, and the first one I came up with was...

Ok, I lied, my setlist is in Blake's car on the way back to Portsmouth
along with my new Shannon Worrell CD. Ug!

Anyway, it was a great show but too short. Hell they could still be
playing now and it would be too short.

I'll post the list when I get it back tomorrow.

Subject: OH MY GOD

Hey guys and gals...

I was in vermont, and while at a super-big Barnes & Noble in Albany (though
not as big as the huge ones here in N.Y.C.), and I played around with one of
those Muze machines... weeeeeeeeee, I checked like 20 bands, and randomly
picked Dave, thinking maybe the new CD would come up or whatever, and
Remember 2 Things was listed. It said they didn't have it, but it had a song
list... hee hee, it was pretty much correct EXCEPT:

tripping billies = tripping blues
minarets = minarels

what is a minarel? whatever it is, it sounds very circular. big arching
circles that you can only properly see when you are sitting on the steps of a
church drunk out of your mind.

at least that's what i saw.

Minarels coming in from everyside. Ay carumba.

Greetings all!!!

Like Gray, I too got the opportunity to see the Dave and Tim show
at the Birchmere. I sat right in front of the stage, and snagged
the set list as soon as they were finished playing thjesus
song... For those interested, this is the name of the Tim song
that Gray didn't have--Letting It Go. It was a most excellent
show, and my condolences to those who couldn't make it. Dave
flubbed the words to Desperate Hours REAL BAD. It was funny.
Right before they played Watchtower, I yelled for them to play
"Drive In, Drive Out", and Dave said to me, "HEY!! I know you!!!
You always ask for that song!! Trust me, when I remember it,
I'll play it for you!!" That was my little highlight of the
show.

I apologize to those who have written me and I haven't responded,
as I was in NoVa all last week, and just got back in town last
night.

Wade

i was almost sure the cover of the album was a painting. And if i
remember correctly a painting looking upward at one of those rides with a
bnuch of chairs attached with chains to a structure in the center that
spins around. [what's the name of those?] I'd also heard that the
painting was just a random picture out of a larger book full of similiar
artwork that anyone could browse. If there was something that interests
you then you could contact the company or artist and offer to buy the
original/rights. I may be off the rocker, i'm not all together sure.
