Does this tape exist?

If so, please let me know if you have it or who does! It was my first dmb

love a copy.

Thanks!

Birchmere doesn't allow taping/photos.....so, no tapes of the show ..(?)

 alex c
I know for a fact that John Alagia was taping, so a tape does exist.

of course a tape exists...it's the show they [Alagia] took Nancies and
Warehouse from for 'Recently'..........i still think you're going to be
hard pressed to find a tape of this show..... more power to you if you
do.......

I'm pretty sure that the "mystery show" in the spring where Dave was
describing One Sweet World was 8-4-92 at Trax. He also says of the
song "it'll pump your butt pretty good."

I always see lots of complaining about "R2T sets." The only problem I have
is them opening just about every set with satellite, jane, tripping. I never
mind Minarets or seek up. Is anyone else annoyed by the lack of a guitar

Also, could someone send me Gregg's address?

P.S.: What I mean, at least personally, by 'R2T' is a set where Ants and
Billies are like supposed to be the highlights. Argh! We can hear those
all the time. I like to hear some more uncommon stuff-- like I would
with any band. Some of the stuff on the album, since they have only one
(1.5 with Granny EP), just seems to be overplayed a bit.

HORDE SHOWS

HAUSERBT@pine.circa.ufl.edu Wed Apr 6 18:30:16 1994

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette mentioned that the HORDE show this year will

Allman Brothers
Blooze Travluh
BHT
+5 other bands (hopefully WSP, DMB, Allgood at least)

(8 bands is bigger than it ever was!)

To me, it sound like HORDE is expanding. I don't know if the other 5
lineup for Pittsburgh was BT, WSP, BHT, ARU, Allgood, Samples. It was
totally unannounced that Rusted Root would play.

Does anyone know the odds of DMB playing at HORDE?

I highly miss the guitar intro, dave's wailing voice was killer. The
thing we need to realize is that alot of shows were "R2T" before the
album came out, we just didn't know it. Anyone remember the good 2001
ants intro?

DMB in HORDE?

bobgee@merle.acns.nwu.edu Wed Apr 6 19:47:07 1994

I noticed someone asking about the chances of Dave playing in the HORDE
festival this summer. From what I know from conversations with Dave and
management is that they would love to do it. In an interview last fall with
Dave, he said he would be honored to be invited to the full tour and be able
to jam with the likes of John Popper and Widespread Panic (which of course
he's already done on several occasions). Coran also indicated the band would
jump at an opportunity like that. But that was last fall, so I don't know if
things have changed. With Blues Traveler in this year's HORDE again, I'm sure
Popper would love to have Dave play given DMB's recent HORDEish gigs (playing
with PHiSH and BHT at Red Rocks) and their rise in popularity. I also found it
interesting that the band plans on spending much of May and June in the studio
working on their next album. What happens come July 2? Last year that was the
opening date for HORDE. My guess is they'll do it.

One Sweet World as "I wrote a pretty staight-forward song when me and Carter
and Stefan and LeRoi were in my basement a few months ago. And it was a pretty
mellow song and then Carter took it and turned it into the funk... this weird
Virginia mountain funk thing. And so it means well in sensitivity, but it'll
pump yer butt pretty good." .. Dave starts strumming opening chords...

what are the dates for any April shows with Phish, Dave, or both.

I've got a few extras for cash or trades to the Lexington show if anyone
needs one. drop me a line. I could also trade a ticket on the 2oth for
one on the 19th in Raleigh or any other dates that week.

alagia has dat copies of the show (obviously) and said he would
tape them for me, but that he's really swamped with things to do,
so it may take some time. i'll be glad to seed a tree for the show
if i ever get the tapes, but i wouldn't expect anything before this
summer.

horde this year

STU_RCTHOMPS@VAX1.ACS.JMU.EDU Wed Apr 6 20:57:50 1994

i hate the horde. it's just an ho, but let's look at this logically.
the bands typical of horde are bands that really like to find a groove
and just play. any one of these bands plays at least 3 hours when
by themselves, and when you try to throw them into a single show with
7 other bands, they won't ever find that groove. it's sort of like
going 3 days with eating and then scrunching down a single dorito.
it just leaves you thouroughly unfufilled and wanting more. the only
band i really enjoyed at last years horde was samples, because i
had never seen them before, and wasn't really expecting all that much.
make sense?

. . . yeah but how can argue against a collection of bands like
that?! Regardless of them getting into a groove or not. The
bands that played at last summer's horde and that might play this
summer are some of my favorite bands (and some of yours too)
period. Plus it's such a cool atmosphere . . . like a deadshow .
. . but cooler (esp for those of us non-deadheads).

Just MHO.

little sloppy on this set but it made for some great jams. Tripping
Billies had some new life to it that it needed. The new intro to Jane is
great. Instead of LeRoicoming in, Boyd plays on the riff for a bit, then
they both come in with a revised intro--KILLER. The new ending to that
song stayed (longer). Warehouse is just always great to hear. Carter's
sportin' those new wood blocks(4 in all i believe) and they are
incredible! Lie in our graves has a great Carter/ LeRoi jam in the
middleof the sax jam. And then Watchtower. In between sets, whatever they
were smoking---they should smoke all the time. Boyd's intro to 2step
jammed and the son went right into Ants(long version). When they played
Best, my heart just stopped and I said, "This was all worth it". Rhyme
and Reason, to my knowledge was played this night for the first time
since early 1993. Jeff (sound)when they started to play said,"Wow, they
haven't played this in a while". WWUS was cool because Carter started
making fun of LeROis solo by playing the exact rhythyms on the drums. At
that point, LeRoi turned his back to the audience and started playing off
time shit to through Carter off.It didn't work. The jam I tried to
describe before Seek Up was interesting. Dave dropped to the floor to
fiddle w/ some monitors. Stefan started this three note riff so softly
that it trook 4 or 5 runs for the audience to hear. I do believe he was
just playing for himself- but LeRoi started fooling with some blues
scale, and when Boyd and Carter hear music, there ain't no stoppin' them.
The jam could be described as Afro/blues/jazz/funk. Then Dave took it
into Seek Up. Halloween ended the show

show was pro videotaped for the archives. Mics were set up around the
place to get a good sound. Maybe that's why all the old tunes. Seek Up,
Best.Best can be spotted by Dave turning around to Carter as they both
furiously bounce up and down as Carter counts it off. The untitled jam.
I've heard both 34 and 36. It is neither. Although I've never heard 35,
the guys I was with had and said it was not that. One dude said that it's
been played at soundchecks, but never w/ vocals. As far as I know, this
is the first time they played it. It was short, so they might have just
been testing it out. It was a slow tune, Boyd soloed, Dave sang
incoherently. Dancing Nancies has been revamped! Long live Dancing
Nancies! I was getting tired of the tune until tonite. Can't be
descvribed. Jimi Thing--- one of my favorites, great as always. Dave's
solo incorporated notes, not only chords! Long live Dave! Rest of set
posted above.

jammed and the son went right into Ants(long version).

     2nd night--
I really thought they couldn't have done better. I was wrong. This
show was pro videotaped for the archives.
Rest of set
  posted above.

rhyme and reason

STU_RCTHOMPS@VAX1.ACS.JMU.EDU Thu Apr 7 19:53:26 1994

the last full band rhyme and reason was on nov 2nd, but it was a
mistake for them to do it. dave had a cold, and since he doesn't
play during the song, he didn't have anything to match a pitch to,
and sounds completely off key once music starts happening. he's
been playing it acoustically off and on since he wrote it, and if
you've never heard it acoustic, your missing out on one of his
siccest riffs. (one of the kinda cool things about nov 2nd was
that he did it both ways).
as for the guy who posted a rather lengthy repost of two setlists
just to say that he liked the setlists.....DON'T DO IT AGAIN.

(oh, and they were really great sets, which are really hard to
come by these days).

ATHENS SHOWS

collidt0@seraph1.sewanee.edu Thu Apr 7 20:33:48 1994

you all have no idea what you have missed.
1st the list, then the review.

4-5-94
One Sweet World (much Dave speak at the end)
Recently ("some people do, some people don't" intro-these are lyrics)
Tripping Billies
Jane (Boyd intro instead of LeRoi--Awesome)
Warehouse
Lie in our graves
Watchtower

set 2
Two-step
Ants Marching
Best of What's Around
Rhyme and Reason!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What Would You Say
Satellite
Minarets
Subtle Stefan groove jam type thing
Leroi joins
Boyd joins
Carter joins
somehow, miraculously it turns into
Seek Up
Halloween

NO ENCORE
just when you thought it couldn't get better
2-6-94
Seek Up
Best of What's Around
Untitled Jam (debut) This song has no name according to Fenton .
Jane
Dancing Nancies (I've neverever heard it this good)
Lover Lay Down
Warehouse
Tripping

set 2:
Two Step
Ants Marching
Jimi Thing (all i can say is that Dave broke a string on the guitar solo)
Rhyme and Reason
Help Myself/Dangerous Hours/Desperate Hours (Take your pick)
What Would You Say
Minarets (Carter and Dave on the intro vocal rap)
Recently ("pretty pretty girl", many quotes)

From the lists you can tell these shows were special. All I can say
is that I've seen DMB over 10 times and have many tapes. I know what I'm
talking about.

The boys have a new tour bus, retiring the trusty red van. LeRoi can
be seen jammin' on his new alto sax. Black with gold buttons.

1st night---- Best Recently I've heard. The boys were playing a
little sloppy on this set but it made for some great jams.
Rhyme

Help Myself, H.O.R.D.E, other stuff...

STU_GJCARRIE@VAX1.ACS.JMU.EDU Thu Apr 7 21:54:11 1994

Desperate hours/Dangerous Hours/ Help Myself is officially called...Help
Myself...straight from the horse's mouth...

tour, because then a small taste (ie one set) of the bands would be cool. It
would give you a chance to see bands that you never had seen or heard. Bt it's
not that at all. It's Blues Traveller (aka the band who would LOVE to sell out
like the Spin Doctors but instead hide in their tubby drug engulfing lead
singer's little showcase every summer), Widespread Panic and friends. Why have
BT and WSP been on the tour every year? Because they can't sell a decent-sized
tour on their own? I don't know...maybe WSP could but not BT. They get worse
and worse IMHO. In short, I think it is arrogant of Popper to put Blues
Traveller in the lead spot EVERY YEAR. He is going against everything he
claims the HORDE stands for.

Please direct all flames to me...thank you...

P.S. Love ya' me!

Predictions and dreams...

campb_c@cs.odu.edu Fri Apr 8 15:13:47 1994

I had a dream last night that Phish was playing in a weird place that
smelled like horses. I forget exactly what songs were played but I know
that one was Divided Sky and the other was McGrupp and the Watchful
Hosemasters. During McGrupp, after the "I'd like to get his autograph,
but he looks too much like Dave" part, Dave Matthews came out dressed as
the Famous Mockingbird. Oh, and everyone in the audiance was naked
except for me...

So, due to this premonition, I'm predicting that Lexington will feature
a Gamehenge set (or at least 3 songs with a narrative).

Has anyone been to the Horse center before? Does it actually smell like
horses inside?

As long as I'm predicting things, I think Page will play on at least 1
DMB song (I'm hoping for a Jimi Thing (w/ Page on Piano and Hammond
B-3)--Also Sprach Zarathusa (w/ Page on Fender Rhodes)---Ants Marching
(Dave lets the stadium sized crowd sing "People in every direction" line)

And for Phish, I think Dave might be coerced into playing on a couple of
tunes. LeRoi will almost assuredly play on some songs. And I'm hoping
for Boyd on some Bluegrass songs (Uncle Penn would be great...)
How about this...Carter plays Henrietta's set during HYHU--I want to be
like you (Jungle Book)--HYHU jam?

Oh well...I can dream right?

see y'all there!

DMB & Others @ Lake Matoaka Festival, Sun, 4/10

bmking@mail.wm.edu Sun Apr 10 22:12:14 1994

What an awesome day. The sun was shining, the bands were wonderful (5 of
them), and the crowd was excellent. As Dave put it, a beautiful day to
celebrate life. Unfortunately, Dave's celebration was cut very short by some
very anal organizers I think. They probably played for about an hour, but it
seemed even shorter than that. So, after 8 hours of incredible music, the
plug was pulled.

Best guess I've heard is that homeowner-like people complained last time
they were here, so the cutoff point was 8pm. Whatever the reason, it was a
horrible time to pull the plug, because the band was rocking. everything (a
band) right before them got about 10-15 musicians on the stage and went into
this incredible jam that went on forever that included leroi and dave.

If anyone has more accurate info on the show, post it, because I didn't
really pay attention, I just enjoyed it.

DMB finished up with an incredible version of Recently, though, that must
have gone on for 20 minutes.

Oh well, next stop, (for me), Raleigh!

Agreeing with Brett's post, what a killer day. The set list went
something like this....
One Sweet World
Two Step
Ants Marching
Warehouse
Best of What's Around
What Would You Say :-)
Recently

Dave being cut short was quite a dissapointment, but fun was had by all.
Having some friends who worked security, I got to run around backstage
and drink free beer, which was a nice bonus. Hopefully Dave will play a
long set before Phish.......

It seems that the 1-30-93 wasn't near NYC so that I'd suggest that perhaps Bill
had a slip of the finger typing the date in. Hence, 1-30-93 becomes
10-30-93 at the Wetlands in NYC. Richard Harding showed up and played sax on
True and flute on Watchtower. Perhaps this is what you meant Bill. Later,

One Set

One Sweet World
Two Step
Ants Marching
Best of What's Around
What Would You Say
Warehouse
Recently

I know Chris Buford posted that already, but the order was a little
mixed up.

A couple of comments on the show. At the begining of One Sweet World,
someone let a giant inflatable globe loose and people batted it all of
the place for awhile. I thought it was a nice touch. Groovy new intro
to Two Step. Good jam at the end of Ants. BEST OF WHAT'S AROUND!!!
'nuff said...Flubbed lyrics in What would you say. Warehouse was GOOD.
Doug Wannamaker played his Hammond during a stellar Recently, and the
the Everything/Boy O Boy horns sat in. GREAT version.
The crowd was cool, the ABC and cops were dicks. They ran out of beer
during Everythings set and I was left holding a couple of beer tickets,
bummer. Great crowd chant of "Bullshit" after Dave's announcement that
Recently would be their last song. Oh yeah, after One Sweet World Dave
sang "Bouncing Round the Room..." makes me wonder if he's listening to
some Phish.
Too short, but it was worth it just to see Doug sit in with them again.

W&M Show...

A friend of mine is in SEAC, W&M's environmental club, which was
supposed to receive a portion of the proceeds from last fall's Dave
appearance here. From what she tells me, SEAC didn't see a cent of
the money. Turns out that the cost of supplying power (lights, etc.)
caused the show to break even. Perhaps they were trying to avoid
this and cut it short? Hey, Special Olympics has to get something
out of it! Who knows, I was pissed too, but the Soul Fish jam made
up for a lot of me angst! Later...

Just to clear up the short set at W&M on sunday, they had to stop at

Umm.. I don't get it. Does this mean any show in VA that's outdoors has to
stop at 8pm? I know this isn't true.. Or is it within a certain radius of
residential buidings? I'm pretty sure last fall when DMB was here they
played well past 8pm too.

Guess they'll just have to start earlier next time...

TWO STEP-subject

I don't know if tis has been mentioned before, but I think I figured out
the meaning behind Two Step. I think it obviously has to be about Noah's
Now the story behind Noah's ark, for those of you who haven't been awake
since the Old Testament was handed down, is that God told Noah to that tere
was going to be flood, because he was dismayed with the iniquity of man and
sought to destroy them w/ this flood. He also told Noah to gather a male
and female of every living species so that they may generate their species
on the earth when the flood subsided. He got all these pairs of creatures
and had them "climb on" to the ark, in order "to make sure" that those
"days continued."
anybody agree w/ me?, anybody care?, anybody want to shoot me?, relieve me

DMB albums

Does anyone else think that DMB does a terrible job at making albums? The
other night I was in the car with a friend when they pop in a tape; it was an
absolutely terrible, uninspired Ants Marching. It didn't surprise me when i
found out it was from R2T. The rest of the album speaks for itself.
minute Recently really blew me away (not really). Dave and Tim do nothing
special on Dancing Nancies; Boyd blows away Tim on the end jam, and the best
part of the song (the ending) isn't even on it. Why didn't they just take the
Dancing Nancies from 2-22? Warehouse isn't the same without Dave's intro
wailing. Also, the crowd at the Birchmere doesn't help these songs all that
Maybe Metallica can cover it now that it has electric guitar.

Also, maybe their next album will come with an in-depth catalogue of the
merchandise of all bands on the RCA label.

Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Gay Bee

STU_GJCARRIE@VAX1.ACS.JMU.EDU Thu Apr 14 16:04:43 1994

Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Gay Bee

I
Among twenty snowy mountains,
The only moving thing
Was the eye of the gay bee.

II
I was of three minds,
Like a tree
In which there are three gay bees.

III
The gay bee whirled in the autumn winds.
It was a small part of the pantomime.

IV
A man and a woman
Are one.
A man and a woman and a gay bee
Are one.

V
I do not know which to prefer,
The beauty of inflections
Or the beauty of innuendoes,
The gay bee buzzing
Or just after.

VI
Icicles filled the long window
With barbaric glass.
The shadow of the gay bee
Crossed it, to and fro.
The mood
Traced in the shadow
An indecipherable cause.

VII
O thin men of Haddam,
Why do you imagine golden birds?
Do you not see how the gay bee
Walks around the feet
Of the women about you?

VIII
I know noble accents
And lucid, inescapable rhythms;
But I know, too,
That the gay bee is involved
In what I know.

IX
When the gay bee flew out of sight,
It marked the edge
Of one of many circles.

X
At the sight of gay bees
Flying in a green light,
Even the bawds of euphony
Would cry out sharply.

XI
He rode over Connecticut
In a glass coach.
Once, a fear pierced him,
In that he mistook
The shadow of his equipage
For gay bees.

XII
The river is moving.
The gay bee must be flying.

XIII
It was evening all afternoon.
It was snowing
And it was going to snow.
The gay bee sat
In the cedar-limbs.

that's makes a lot of sense imho. i've listened pretty carefully to those

things up from show to show, some of it really fits. (although other
parts fit into the quick lay and goodbye theme). i'll might just go

Samples & DMB 4/14

jcrother Fri Apr 15 08:30:16 1994

I saw this review of the DMB/samples show last night in Portland come
across Horde.Net...
.......it's interesting to say the least...

alex crothers
-------------------------------------------

---------- Forwarded message ----------

Dave Matthews Band opened up with a totally smokin' hour-long set, with
lots of hot jams...Boyd (the violinist) got so into the jam on Rhyme and
Reason that his glasses flew off his face and he didn't even seem to
notice! The crowd(except for one guy who kept yelling "bring on the
Samples") recieved dmb very well (I don't imagine there were many people
there who had heard of them), and Boyd even came back out to jam w/ the
Samples.

The Samples were hot too (the best that I've heard in three shows since
October), but the crowd really wrecked it for me. I was at the edge of the
stage from the beginning of the show, and things got pretty well packed in
when everyone tried to squeeze into the orchestra pit area. And
then...they started moshing, crowd-surfing, and stage-diving!!! I got
kickedin the head so many times that I almost wanted to leave. After I
gave one "surfer" a little nudge off of my head and onto the floor, another
guy came up and started bitching at me for not letting people have fun. I
tried to explain that by having my skull bashed in, they were ruining my
fun (along with that of the rest of the great folks up front). He then
proceed to tell me "This is the mosh pit. Why don't you go back to the
fucking country club if you don't want to have a good time." I responded
that I just wanted to watch the band without getting beat up, and then
turned around to the stage, he started yelling at me "Are you having fun
now?" over and over. I really just wanted to punch the guy, although I
managed to hold myself back. So needless to say, I was a little bit bummed
out, when low and behold, during Underwater People, Sean points at me,
waves me onto stage hands me his guitar, and goes of stage. Al and Andy
do the same with other people (a couple assholes who tried to come up got
stopped by security :-))) Well, I know about three guitar chords, so I
sounded like shit, but it was such a buzz!!!!! On stage, with the Samples,
looking down at all the jerks who had been kicking me all night was just
incredible...I'm still not even sure it really happened...WOW! Well, if
anyone's interested I'll try to come up with a setlist as soon as I come
out of this state of euphoria..

Later

My own personal horror story if I might?

Avalon, fall 1993, the Samples. . . .
There was a mosh pit, and I was in it unfortunately. This very drunk guy
behind me starts yelling at me, "Dance. Why aren't you dancing? Dance,
man." Dancing, as he understood it, was essentially giving people black
and blue marks and broken ribs. It ruined the show for me. Plus, that
time, the asshole got picked by Andy to play bass. No justice.

For anyone going to the show tonight, bring full riot gear and I'll be up
front and center (For Dave at least!) in a Harvard '97 hat and WSP
shirt. See you there!?!

The show was scheduled to start at 7:30pm. Today was a very nice, warm day
up here, and seeing as how I only had one class I decided to go down to
the Orpheum early-- 5pm.

I got there at five (it's down this alley with the entrance to the place
all the way at the end). Nothing doing. I walked around the block and
killed some time in a book store. At about five-thirty, I went back to
the alley and sat down in front of the theater. Then, a minute or two
later I see Dave, Leroi, and Stefan walking down the alley toward the
theater. So I met them half-way down the street, we talked for a bit,
and started walking again. I asked them if they minded if I sat in and
listened to the soundcheck. Dave said it was no problem and that I
should just walk in with them, which I did. I went directly to the
spot right in front of the stage and sat down there. Boyd was already
fiddling around ;-) and they all got set up. Here's what they played for

After that, the band was being shuffled off downstairs to eat dinner, but
I had the chance to talk to Dave for a minute and I introduced myself and
asked if he remembered me. He said yes, which I could sense since the
whole time during the soundcheck he was looking down at where I was sitting
trying to figure out who the hell I was. Since every time I've seen
Dave I've been front center, and in Athens I made this little
"Best of What's Around" sign (which he did remember), I figured I'd
introduce myself. I asked him if they'd play Best, and he said it was
likely. Also one other thing-- Leroi's new alto sax. Very sweet.

I grabbed dinner and was back at the theater at 7pm.

Well, it was down-hill from there. Their real set was very good, but
obviously it wouldn't live up to my experience during the afternoon.

One Sweet World
Tripping Billies
Rhyme Or Reason
BEST OF WHAT'S AROUND!!!
Recently
True Reflections
Two-Step
Ants Marching

As I said, the Samples were painful to listen to. I left about 40
minutes into their set, and I passed Leroi on the way out and thanked him
for a great show. And it was.

I don't know how to put this any SUBTLE way, but IT IS TIME THAT THE DAVE
MATTHEWS BAND PLAY A FULL SHOW, NOT JUST OPENING FOR SOMEONE ELSE, IN
THE BOSTON AREA.

P.S. They're in top form these days folks. Really hot.

DMB at the Orpheum

bdietz@acs.bu.edu Sat Apr 16 09:44:02 1994

Wow! DMB really rocked last night. They opened with One Sweet World. I'm
not sure of the rest of the setlist, but they played Recently, Tripping
Billies, True Refelctions, and alot more. After the third song or so
a few friends and I yelled "Ants Marching" and they played it last... I don't
know if they heard me, but it was a great strung out version.

WHEN IS DMB GOING TO PLAY A FULL SHOW IN BOSTON?!?!?!?!?

Every time that they have been here they have opened for another band...
ARU in the fall and now the Samples. I like DMB alot more than ARU, and
the Samples are pretty good for the first half an hour, but they get
boring... all their songs souns alike.

A New DMBer needs some tapes...

nebuious@aol.com Sat Apr 16 15:15:28 1994

I hate grovelling, but I only have one show, the 6/26/93 show in D.C. that
was tree'd.

Anyway, what I would LOVE is if there is anyone out there is nice enough to
help out a guy that loves DMB, but just doesn't have anything besides one
show to go by, to email me so we could set up some type of deal. :)

My tape list includes a TON of Phish (somewhere over 100 hours), as well as
some Hatters, Spin Doctors, Pearl Jam, Shockra, God Street Wine, and the
Authority.

Thanks. :)

Honest Race Questions about DMB

nebuious@aol.com Sun Apr 17 14:01:36 1994

I'll be honest here, when I first envisioned the band, I basically saw an
all-white band. This assumption was based simply on the fact that most
"horde" bands are predominantly, if not totally, white. Sure, there are
exceptions, but I would guess that at least 80% of bands in the genre in
question are white. Crowds at shows seem to be even less diverse, I'd say
between 80-95% white, depending on the show.

Now, when I somehow found out Carter had been the drummer on some show on
Black Entertainment Television (BET), I thought, "Oh, cool."

But then I started to think... well, does EVERYTHING on BET have to be black?
"sex in the 90's"... so, what's up?

So, then I read the interviews file, and it said something about a
native-american member. So, in all of my bleeding-heart liberal-ness, I will
ask simply if someone could clarify what the races are of the band members.

If you find this inappropriate, please email me, don't flame publically. I
can't really think of why it could bother anyone that much. I just find that
visualizing a band always helps me to enjoy a tape more, especially one I
have yet to see, and it will also help so I wouldn't go "Hey! That's not who
I thought the drummer/bassist/etc. would be!" when I eventually do get to see
'em live.

URGENCY!!

dee3s@uva.pcmail.virginia.edu Sun Apr 17 14:35:20 1994

I apologize for posting something relatively un-germaine, but
this is truly an emergency. Those of you on phishnet have seen
this post, sorry for the repeat. I have an extra ticket to
tomorrow's (Monday 4/18) Phish show that I am offering in
exchange for the ride to the University of Delaware arena (where
the show is). I'm posting here because I know that a large
number of recipients live in Virginia. Hope you can help me out.

Sincerely,

halloween

RPPRISIN@VAX1.ACS.JMU.EDU Sun Apr 17 23:34:46 1994

hey.....
i wasn't sure who to write to with tab of sons so i decided to post it.
i apologize to anyone who doesn't want to read it but......
ok
i believe the chords for halloween go something like this

A G F Em G repeat

its easy to play along with for the most part. I do not know the main riff type
thing that dave plays but these chords fit and sound right.
the key to getting it is that the Em to G is pretty quick.

what is all this gay bee bullshit again. maybe something is wrong up at
JMU i don't know. But when i listen to DMB, see a show, or trade with
others, gay bees never enter my mind. I have a database list of
something like over 5000 random networks out there. Haven't looked
closely, but if you'd like to, you could probably find your desire to
talk about gay bees with those who care, Matt

Looking for three tapes

bdietz@acs.bu.edu Tue Apr 19 22:17:17 1994

I'm looking for three DMB tapes. Two of which are the two DMB shows
Orpheum in Boston as well. On 11-12-93 there were tapers there taping
ARU, but I'm not sure if anyone got DMB. If the tape exists please, someone
let me know. I'm not sure if tapers were allowed at the Orpheum, because
it was a Samples show... again if the tape exists let me know. I'm
also looking for a show with a good version of "Quick Lay and Goodbye"
on it. I have over 95 hours of PHiSH and over 40 hours of DMB, Blues
Traveler, WSP, ARU, the Dead, Spin Doctors, Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam,
and Billy Joel.

11-12-93 @ The Paradise
4-15-94 @ The Orpheum
A show with a good version of "Quick Lay and Goodbye"

Commercial radio play?

budkee@unvax.union.edu Tue Apr 19 23:46:20 1994

What the hell? Recently just came on the air on WXLE 104.5 in the
Albany NY area. It wasn't requested or anything. They didn't even
have ARU a month ago and now they have this? Weird stuff. This
station seems to be getting better.

On another note, we have the disc at our school station, and I don't
know, I really don't care for this tune as much as the others on the
disc. Gotta get them to play something else I guess. :)
