Song History
This song made a brief span of appearances in early 1993. It was inspired by and written for Miguel Valdez, a percussionist who sat in with the band in 1992 and who passed away in early 1993. It was finally released in 1994 on Under the Table and Dreaming (track #34) as an instrumental track. The song is co-written by Haines Fullerton, an early collaborator who took his own life in September 1996. As of 2014, this is the only song to drop out of rotation before its official studio release: by the time Under the Table came out, #34 hadn't been played live in a year and a half and wouldn't be played again for almost eleven more years.

The song made a surprising comeback on 7.9.05 after a few teases earlier in the tour. This is currently the longest comeback in DMB history, at 4491 days between performances, or a little over 12 years. It was played again with some lyrics (for the first time since 1993) on 10.2.07 to celebrate Dave's wife's 34th birthday; it then disappeared again until returning in 2013 for a tease, two partials, and two full performances (one of which was on LeRoi's birthday). It was again played on LeRoi's birthday in 2018.

Because this has become an instrumental song, it is difficult to objectively distinguish between teases and partial performances. We consider a performance partial if it has the main riff at least four times (constituting a "verse") followed by the "we'll be okay" part twice (constituting a "chorus").

The song was the subject of a clue on the July 12, 2012 episode of "Jeopardy!"
Category: 30s Rock
Clue: Track 34 on this band's "Under the Table and Dreaming" is cleverly titled #34.
