Description
CBGB, which stands for Country, Bluegrass, and Blues, opened in December of 1973 as a late night bar/club-style music venue. It is probably most famous for being the home to the Ramones and the birthplace of American punk music.
The owner of CBGB's lost his lease in 2006 and passed away the following year. In 2011, a group of unknown investors bought the remaining CBGB assets, including the associated intellectual property and original interior. The property then transitioned to retail space.
