(A Benefit for Hurricane Relief)
From the dmband.com website:

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the communities that have been hit by the hurricane. The devastation and human loss is heart breaking. In an effort to raise funds to assist the victims, Dave Matthews Band will be performing a special benefit concert that will take place on Monday, September 12, 2005 at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado. All proceeds from the event will be collected by Bama Works Fund and distributed to appropriate relief charities. DMBand.com Road Page Notes
Dave put it best tonight when he announced "This was the best way to end the best tour we ever had!" This really has been the time of our lives. The show tonight blew everyone away, including the band members themselves.. They opened the show with the extended version of Recently, which was actually the first time they played it all year. The band were proud to be joined on stage by some greatly respected musicians. Rashawn Ross came out first and blew over Recently and Jimi Thing. Next, Ivan Neville, Robert Randolph and close friend David Cast joined in on an extended version of Marley's "Exodus". A stellar performance through and through. We're still tallying receipts, but we are hopeful that after the generous contributions of money, time and resources by countless individuals which made this event possible, we will be contributing more than we anticipated to the Bama Works Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund. Many thanks to all those involved in the production and to those who attended.
We're headed home now to our families and our friends, but not without lumps in our throats resulting from the intense bonds we've formed amongst band and crew. Leaving one family for another, it's tough to part ways. Before long we'll be back at it with Farm Aid, Vegoose and who knows what else! See y'all soon.
