Binghamton University's West Gym's basketball arena includes a floor that measures 24,000 square feet. The state-of-the-art floating floor system features two layers of plywood at opposing angles with Grade 1 maple on top. The main basketball surface is outlined in dark green and now features an interlocking "BU" insignia in the center circle. Designed by local architect Koridan Wichtowski, the floor was featured by contractor Action Floors on the cover of its 1997 marketing brochure. The 3,000-seat structure, which is home to Binghamton University's men's basketball and women's basketball teams, features three adjacent gymnasia with a state-of-the-art maple surface. The arena hosts basketball at all levels - NCAA, high school sectionals, community leagues and recreational play. In addition, the gymnasium is utilized for Physical Education classes, tournaments, sports clinics, camps, concerts and trade shows.
