This famous song evolved from #36
during the studio sessions for Everyday
. Its lyrics partially appeared live as an interpolation in #41 during the Fall 2000 tour
During its first live appearances in the Summer 2001 tour
, the song almost immediately drew from its #36 influences; specifically the line, "Honey, Honey, Come and Dance with me". On 5.26.01
, the audience shocked the band by chanting the same lines during the show's closer and throughout the encore break. This historic event started a trend of audience participation in the song. Throughout the rest of 2001 and 2002, Dave began resurrecting scatting as well as old lines from #36 developing what is known as the #36 reprise.
During Fall of 2002
, the audience chants became commonplace as the song was one of the top 5 songs to appear in the encore.
